Day 1, 2 and 3

It all started with an interview, like a Proust questionaire, some style research and a mindful moment.

Quiet moments...

A big part of my life is to deal with antiques and vintage (fairs and ecommerce). The main and big inventory is not stored at home but some pieces are and will be at my office. I love vintage. I grew among antique pieces and I can't live without them. But I think antiques and vintage need to be very well curated not to feel "heavy" and cluttered. All this to say that I was sure from the beginning that I wanted an airy space. Although it is going to store supplies, inventory, etc, I need to have most them just stored and hidden. I usually love to see whether it is a vintage or modern inventory beautifully lined side by side, but right now I'm living at my family house. Which I love but it's completely decorated with antiques, vintage and we have a lot of books. I need the office to be a more clean to the eye space.

Doing the interview made it very clear to me how much I love art. I always knew that (that's why I studied History of Art and after that Cinema Direction and Production) but sometimes things are obvious about us but we never fully acknowledge them. When I was in my style research and paying atention to the places where I felt good I could clearly see that must be present one or more of the following: art, nature (flowers, dog, cat :) ) or something handcrafted. Although I'm pretty flexible and I feel great in a lot of houses/spaces that are not my style I discovered I feel really uncomfortable when there isn't at least one of the above. Conclusion: I might like minimalistic environments but I don't like sterile places.

I like jazz, I like vintage, I love Monet, Matisse (specially his collages), Frida, Theolonious Monk, Gilberto Gil, I love textures, wool, natural dyes, I love white, colorful Portuguese ceramics, Blue and White Antique China, wood. I like walks in the park or in the woods. Steinbeck, Italian movies, Il postino and tea.

.

So the first assignment was to take the Style Interview. Which I don't know where I've put it or I would post it. Then to Go on a Style Scounting Outing, that was when I came to the conclusions above and also started my Pinterest Workspace Style Cure. Most of us pin more than we like to confess, but I've only pinned with a project in mind once (it was for a photoshoot). Like at that time, doing the a Cure Pin Board really gave me focus on some things I like and want. This beautiful blue, a touch of pink, a modern rustic feel.

When I've done the Mindful 10 minutes from assignment #3 it was clear to me that I wanted a space that had clean spaces, negative space even if it had constrasting, more full, spaces. That I wanted to feel at ease, for it be a peaceful place and that I had a lot of work to do...since it was full of heavy bulky old furniture, years of clutter, of everythig that wasn't allowed in the rest house, of all those things that will be useful...one day.

Well, one thing I know. If you want something you need to have or create space for it. True for relationships, televisions, collection of shoes and...for work. I got projects that I need to work on, so I started...working on declutering. Knowing that one of this days, this will be the place where my creations and business (some of them below) will happen!
